Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Receives First India Jersey, Set to Become Youngest International Cricketer

Fifteen-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has received his first official India jersey ahead of the tours of Ireland and England and the Asian Games. After topping the scoring charts in the Indian Premier League with 776 runs for Rajasthan Royals, the teenager is set to become India's youngest international cricketer, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's long-standing milestone.

Fifteen-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken another historic step in his remarkable rise after receiving his first official India jersey, a moment he described as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.

Sooryavanshi was named in India's Twenty20 squad for the tours of Ireland and England, as well as for the Asian Games, after dominating the batting charts in this year's Indian Premier League. The young star could make his senior international debut in Friday's opening Twenty20 match against Ireland in Belfast.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India released a video on Tuesday capturing the emotional moment when the blue India jersey was handed to Sooryavanshi. Describing it as “the moment the nation has been waiting for”, the video showed the teenager opening the package containing the shirt bearing his name and the number 03 on the back.

Reflecting on the occasion, Sooryavanshi said he had dreamed of such a moment ever since he first held a bat and stepped onto a cricket field for practice. He added that the emotions associated with receiving the jersey were beyond words.

The teenager is poised to become India's youngest international cricketer, surpassing legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar, who made his Test debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days in 1989.

Sooryavanshi has been at the centre of attention since his outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League. Representing Rajasthan Royals, he amassed 776 runs to finish as the tournament's leading run scorer and secure the Orange Cap. During the campaign, he registered one century and five half-centuries, underlining his status as one of the brightest young talents in world cricket.

With his first India jersey now in hand and an international debut on the horizon, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stands on the verge of creating history, marking a significant moment in Indian cricket and signalling the arrival of a new generation of talent.
